Viganj / Croatia
Courses:Pelješac has long been the legendary summer "home away from home" for windsurfers. It’s a place where the rhythm of nature dictates the day, with glassy mornings and reliable thermal winds in the afternoon - a combination that has made countless riders fall in love with this spot. The channel between the Pelješac peninsula and the island of Korčula acts as a natural wind tunnel. Every afternoon, the Maestral wind kicks in, cooling down the summer heat and drawing hundreds of windsurfers and kiters to the water.

Viganj is a windsurfing mecca where the channel between the Pelješac peninsula and Korčula island acts as a natural wind funnel. The spot is famous for its safe environment and crystal-clear waters, where the Maestral wind provides consistent conditions without heavy chop—perfect for mastering planing, jibes, or foiling.
Wind statistic (July–August): 70–80% of windy days. // Force: Morning: 5–10 knots (glassy water), afternoon: 15–25 knots (thermal Maestral) // Vibe: Versatile conditions—mornings are dedicated to first steps and SUP, while afternoons are all about blasting with sails between 5.0 and 7.5 m2 or foiling.
There are several popular campsites (Ponta, Maestral) located in the immediate vicinity of the windsurf center, offering everything from traditional camping spots to modern mobile homes and luxury RV pitches. For the perfect "après-surf" experience, head to the popular K2 bar or Čiringito, where you can enjoy a cocktail and a chilled vibe right by the water's edge.
If you're looking to mix windsurfing and SUPing with some morning yoga, cycling, or sightseeing, Viganj is the perfect base. Every morning and evening, a small taxi boat runs directly from the beach to Korčula town, where you can explore the historic medieval streets or enjoy a seafood dinner. For nature lovers, a hike up Mt. Sveti Ilija is a must for the best panoramic views of the entire archipelago, while wine enthusiasts should definitely explore the local vineyards and cellars that Pelješac is famous for.
While Korčula offers a broader nightlife scene, Pelješac keeps the energy high with the legendary K2 and Čiringito bars in Viganj, as well as the popular Hookah Bar in Orebić.
